Puncetto lace – my sad first attempts

Ok puncetto lace is harder than it looks.  It is a traditional valsesian lace.  Needle and thread are the only tools required.  The use of very few materials to create something beautiful is appealing. This video makes it look easy.

My first attempts are sad and messy at best.  I seem to have a problem at the ends, not being able to know when it ends.   As you can see in my pictures my sides are not straight.  I will keep practicing, since practice makes perfect.

Desiree Sevigny at Needle Lace Talk has been a wonderful help to me with instructions and graphs she has made.  I would be lost without her help.

  1. This is truly beautiful! I wasn’t sure that I wanted to watch a 7 minute video clip, but the time just flew whilst this talented woman knotted her thread :)

And you are doing well for your first attempts.

Where did you learn to do this lace?

  2. Thanks for your email Shirl.

I joined the Needle Lace Talk site a few weeks ago as I have just started to learn needlelace. I shall now investigate puncetto lace on the site too :)
