Sunday Postcard Art and Tatting Challenge – 9 of 25 motif

Sunday Postcard Art‘s theme this week of Black of White was chosen by Anne.  Since I am currently working  the 25 motif challenge I combined the two.  This will be my 9th motif for the challenge.  Each piece of tatted lace is 4 inches long.   The white thread is HH Lizbeth size 20, color 601.  The black thread is DMC Cotton Perle Size 12 color 310.

Charmie was looking through my tatting books and fell in love with a pattern.  Unfortunatley the pattern ended up being a mess or I did something really wrong but couldn’t find my mistake.  So I kept going on my own making it as close as possible to the picture, using some parts of the pattern and adjusting as I went along to make it work.  It was an interesting challenge.

DMC  12 in Ecru 712.  The doily is 9 inch diameter.

Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival

This was the 36th annual festival and my first time to attend.  Wow Wow wow its a huge festival!  I was there for five hours and didn’t see everything.   I skipped over the live stock and outside vendors.  It was awsome,  I could have spent  a fortune there.  The hand dyed fibers were  beautiful.  Here is a little sample of some things I picked up.

The silk scarf is from Ingrid’s Designs.  She used comfrey to dye the scarf.   Another vendor Serendipity Farm & Studio in Suffolk VA happened to have some beautiful silk threads to match.   Also picked up some tatting shuttles from  Brush Creek  Wool Works.  My plan is to tat a beautiful lace edging around the scarf.

Maple Creek Farm in Telford PA was one of my favorite vendors.   The green skein is called Richmond, its bamboo, wool  and silk.  The rose skein is called Victoria, its superwash merino and tencel.    They will make beautiful knitted scarfs.

Shepards Mill Farm in Elmer NJ. had this beautful rayon that was calling my name.

Kiparoo Wool in Adamstown Md had so many beautiful yarns.  I picked up this beautiful mohair and rayon blend.

Hunt Valley Cashmere in Baltimore MD was my favorite.   I purchased a kit for a scarf.  The pattern is called Frosted Flowers.  This is the one thing I am most definetly keeping for myself….I am so excited!!  How lucky am I to have found her….shes so close to me!!    She is doing a Cashmere Square of the Month Club.  The afgan was on display at the show!!  Its even more beautiful in person.
